Sign-up sheet

A sign-up sheet is a list of slots and a name against each one. On paper it lives on one noticeboard; as a link it reaches everyone at once, and instead of reading down the list you ask which slots nobody has taken.

Say this to your assistant

“Make a sign-up sheet for reading helpers in the classroom this term: name, email, which weekday mornings they can do, and how often they can come.”

Change the wording to suit your event or business. formset reads what the question is asking and picks the right type, so an email address is checked as an email and a rating is collected as a rating.

It is hosted at its own link straight away. Respondents need no account, and you can share it as a link, a QR code, or embedded in your own site.

Getting more answers

  • Once a slot is covered, ask your assistant to take it off the list, so the next person only sees the slots that still need someone.
  • Put the QR code in the newsletter or on the classroom door, and the link in the parents’ group chat.
  • If a slot is still empty a week later, send one reminder that names it rather than a general call for help.

Then just ask

When the answers come in, ask in the same conversation:

  • “Which mornings have nobody yet?”
  • “Who signed up for Wednesday?”
  • “Take Monday off the list, it is covered.”
