Class check-in
A check-in partway through a unit tells you what to change while there is still time to change it. Keep it short and leave names out so students answer honestly: a few quick ratings, one question about what would help, and room for anything else.
Say this to your assistant
“Make an anonymous check-in for my class on how this unit is going: is the pace too slow, about right or too fast, how clear the explanations have been and how confident they feel, from 1 to 5, what would help most, and space for anything else. Do not ask for names.”
Change the wording to suit your event or business. formset reads what the question is asking and picks the right type, so an email address is checked as an email and a rating is collected as a rating.
What formset builds
This is the page your respondents open. Try the questions; nothing is sent.
It is hosted at its own link straight away. Respondents need no account, and you can share it as a link, a QR code, or embedded in your own site.
Getting more answers
- Show the QR code on the board in the last five minutes of the lesson, so answers come in while everyone is still in the room.
- In its first 24 hours a new formset account can make 2 forms, each taking up to 25 answers. For a bigger class, connect formset the day before.
- Run the same check-in again later in the unit, then ask how the two compare.
Then just ask
When the answers come in, ask in the same conversation:
- “How did the class rate the pace and the explanations?”
- “Read me the comments.”
- “Close the check-in, the lesson is over.”
